Poetics of Cross-Cultural Relation: Critical Performances by Artists kate-hers RHEE and Patty Chang

This article explores anti-racist, feminist performance and video art by kate-hers RHEE Patty Chang. Parodic performances of awkward sexual encounters in works such as RHEE’s The Chocolate Kiss (2013) Chang’s Product Love (2009) embody deconstruct identity formation within transnational German Asian American contexts. I explore how Chang distinctly challenge sexist racist stereotypes the objectification women, while problematizing cultural categorization through (mis)translations poetic relations. illuminates these artists complicate identities via variegated explorations critical race theories connected histories cross-cultural representation.
